“But it opens fine for me, why can't you open it?” — OPENABLE exists so that never happens again. It's a quick check before you hit send on a file or link.

The problem we solve

Everyone's been there: you send a link but the recipient is forced to log in, you send a photo carrying the exact GPS location where it was taken, or you send a document still full of the author's name and internal notes. You don't see those things on your own device — but the recipient does.

OPENABLE answers two questions before you send:

• Can the recipient open it? — it tries opening the link as a stranger who isn't logged in.
• Will they see something you didn't mean to send? — it inspects GPS location, author name, tracking codes and other hidden info.

Our solution

Each problem above has its own handling, and they all roll up into a single verdict: is it good to send.

Check whether the recipient can open it

OPENABLE tries opening your link while logged out, simulating three recipients: iPhone, Android and desktop. If the link forces a login, is broken, or only opens on some devices, you know right away — with guidance to fix sharing permissions for Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive.

Remove hidden info from photos

Phone photos usually carry the GPS location where they were taken, the date, time and camera model. OPENABLE reads and wipes this data, producing a “bare” image with just the picture left.

Clean up Office documents

Word, Excel and PowerPoint files store the creator's name, the last editor, comments and the full edit history. OPENABLE strips all of that while keeping your content intact, so you can send without leaking internal info.

Strip tracking codes from links

Share links from TikTok, Instagram, or links carrying ad tracking codes often include an identifier tied to you. OPENABLE cuts them out and returns a clean link that still points to the right content.

The tech behind it

OPENABLE is a web app, built on open technologies and prioritizing processing right on your device:

• Next.js & React: a modern web foundation that loads fast and runs smoothly on both phones and computers.
• In-browser processing: reading and removing hidden info from photos and documents runs entirely on your device — files are not uploaded.
• Headless browser: to answer “can the recipient open it”, the system tries opening the link with a real browser in a logged-out state.
• Installable app (PWA): you can add OPENABLE to your home screen and share files/links straight into the app from your phone's Share button.
