Privacy Policy
Last updated: 08/18/2026
OPENABLE is designed for you to check and clean files before sending — so it collects as little data as possible. Most of the work happens right inside your browser.
In short: Your photos and documents are never uploaded to a server. Only when you check a link is that link (not the file) sent so we can try opening it for you.
1. Where we process data
Reading metadata, removing GPS location, stripping tracking codes from links, and cleaning Office documents all run entirely in your browser (client-side). Your files never leave your device, are not sent over the network, and are not stored anywhere. When you close the tab, all temporary data is cleared.
2. When data is sent
There is only one case where data leaves your device: when you use the “can the recipient open it” feature. To answer that, our system needs to try opening the link in a logged-out state.
- Sent: the link (URL) you enter.
- Not sent: photos, documents, or any file.
The link is processed temporarily to produce a result and is not stored long-term or used for other purposes.
3. What we don't collect
- No sign-up, login or account required.
- No tracking or advertising cookies.
- No selling or sharing data with third parties.
- No history of the files or links you've checked.
4. Third-party services
If you use the “Share” button to send a clean version, OPENABLE calls your device's built-in share feature (Share Sheet). Sending via WhatsApp, Messenger, email… follows those apps' own privacy policies, beyond our control.
5. Children
OPENABLE is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Policy changes
We may update this policy as features change. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
